M.M. fibreglass gratings and structures and their related accessories are especially suited for use on ships and boats in general. The lightness of the material is a crucial factor that must be taken into account in the design and construction of ships of noteworthy size. The resistance of M.M. gratings to brackish environments – compared to similar products made of other materials – makes them an essential element in the shipbuilding sector. It should be also noted that FRP gratings are more economically competitive than AISI 316 stainless steel gratings. To ensure maximum safety on board, M.M. supplies gratings with excellent flame resistance according to the EN13501, ASTM E84, ASTM D635, DIN 4102, NFP 92-507 standards. In the areas where high fire resistance is required according to ship registers, M.M. provides Compodeck gratings having high fire resistance (Level 1), according to the PFM2-98 U.S. Coast Guard file memorandum. M.M. standard and Compodeck gratings are also available in a conductive and antistatic/dissipative version for installations in hazardous areas (oil tankers and gas carriers). M.M. products can be used for walking surfaces, gangways, ladders and enclosures. To guarantee maximum safety for operators and ship passengers, M.M. gratings are manufactured according to the DIN 24537-3 standard and supplied in a slip resistant version according to the DIN 51130 standard. Elevated walkways with micromesh (or “heel proof”) gratings are constructed according to the most stringent EU regulations. FRP parapets complement the range of products.
