The gantry cranes are characterized by their own support (the legs): that gives the opportunity to install the crane in outdoor environments without the need of a supporting structure or inside the shed in case of an unsuitable structure.

The gantry cranes are normally used for the displacement of large pieces in large areas, as in marble or iron industry.
